Presentation

Students will prepare a brief (HIPAA compliant! Please don’t provide names or any other identifiable information) case presentation from their field placements to present to peers in small groups (5-6 students). Students should select a client or situation in their field placement where they felt/feel uncertain of how to best proceed. These brief presentations should be between 5 and 7 minutes, providing the following information:

1. What is the scenario? This should include context including unidentifiable client demographics and how these may intersect with the scenario described.
2. How does the client’s identities of privilege and identities of oppression impact the situation?
3. Share one outside resource that you used to learn how to better help the client (a scholarly article or manual, asking a supervisor or coworker for insight, etc.)?
4. What feedback, support, or ideas would be most helpful for you to receive from your small student group?
Students will then be given a few minutes (each presentation will take 10-12 minutes total including the presentation and small-group discussion) to receive feedback and discuss the scenario with other small-group members. This should be a time to provide additional ideas, support, and perspectives about the client’s needs and how to best meet them. Students do not need to create a formal slideshow to present, but should come prepared with the required information to share with classmates. In order to ensure that students are prepared, students will upload a document with the answers to the 4 questions above. Each question will be worth 2.5 points and will be graded based on the depth of the responses. This written portion of the assignment should be less than 3 pages double-spaced. There is no minimum length, but remember that one or two-sentence answers for each question will be unlikely to receive full credit. The other half of the assignment points (10) will be awarded as complete/ not complete based on if you presented your case in your small group and provided feedbaaqwck to other group members.
